Course
The start/finish area will be by the pottery studio, which is also near a sandy swimming area. The course is the perimeter of the park—one lap for 4K, two laps for 8K. Instead of going through the parking lot at the south end of the park, participants should stay on the sidewalk to the left (south); with this portion near the end of the loop rather than the beginning, we should have participants spaced out enough that this will not be too crowded. Taking that route, along with eliminating the hill in the center of the park (previously in the 10K), will minimize the area where participants must share the road with motorized vehicles. Near the end of the clockwise loop, runners and walkers will have to cross the driveway into the park. We will have course marshals in safety vests monitoring traffic and guiding participants, as well as arrow signs anywhere there could be confusion. Scroll to the bottom of this pace for a detailed map of the area.
Both distances will have a 1 hr 45 min course limit, counted from 9am. In the past we discouraged walkers from joining the 10K due to this limit, but the new 8K distance (5 miles) can be completed within the limit if a 21 minute per mile pace is maintained, which should be manageable for most walkers.
The virtual race has no official course. Following up-to-date safety orders, create your own 4K or 8K route and complete it anytime June 23-26. There is no time limit, but the full distance should be completed in one activity.
Packet Pick-up
VIRTUAL participants will receive their packets via USPS.
IN-PERSON participants who register before end of day Wednesday, June 14 will have an option for shipping at an additional charge. Participants who decline shipping or register after June 14 can pick up packets 4-7pm Friday, June 23 at Super Jock n Jill (7210 East Green Lake Dr N, Seattle, WA 98115) or 7:30-8:45am Saturday, June 24 at Seward Park. Super Jock n Jill will be offering discounts during in-store pickup. Participants are welcome to pick up packets for friends and family.
Parking
Parking space is limited in Seward Park. Plan to arrive early in order to find street parking.
